Over 93% achievement rates in vocational and technical education
T Level students excel with a 94% pass rate and 66% achieving Distinction or Distinction* grades
Trafford & Stockport College Group is celebrating another year of exceptional student achievement, with more than 1,800 learners receiving results across A Levels, T Levels and vocational qualifications.
Many students are progressing to top universities, including the University of Liverpool, the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick, while others have secured exciting job roles with major employers such as Network Rail, Amazon and Jeff Gosling.
One of the standout successes this year has been the college group’s T Level provision, with the qualification continuing to grow in popularity and deliver some excellent results. 66% of T Level learners achieved Distinction or Distinction* grades.
By combining classroom learning with work placements, T Levels equip students with the skills, knowledge and the practical experience needed to progress into skilled employment, apprenticeships and higher education.
Abdul Hakim achieved a Merit in T Level Legal Services at Trafford College. He said, “The placement opportunities were my favourite part of the course. I want to become a barrister, so being able to complete a placement at a Chambers in Manchester was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed it and made some valuable professional connections.
“One of the reasons I chose this route over A Levels was the opportunity to gain work experience. A Levels tend to be more classroom-based, whereas I wanted practical experience and to build up my contacts.”
Students across A Level and vocational programmes have also secured strong results, progressing to top universities, apprenticeships industry placements and employment opportunities.
Alfie Travis achieved an incredible four A*s in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths and is set to study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
One student celebrating today is Myles Sherry-Starkey, an EHCP learner at Trafford College, who achieved an A*, A and B in Geography, History and Politics A Levels.
He said, “I have a disability and there were times when I doubted myself and wondered whether I was good enough.
“I’m so happy and relieved. It feels like a weight has been lifted. My advice to other students would be to relax and make the most of the college experience. I plan to take a gap year before progressing to the University of Warwick.”
Another high achiever is Hajira Qaiser, a BTEC student who joined Stockport College after moving to the UK from Pakistan in 2024 with little English language experience.
Despite the huge challenges of adapting to a new country and education system, Hajira achieved Distinction grades in her Level 3 Computing qualifications.
She said, “Stockport College feels like home to me. I am staying here to study Cyber Security rather than going on to university.
“I haven’t lived in Manchester for very long and I have experienced a lot of change throughout my education. The teachers at Stockport College and the support they have given me have really helped me. I am so proud of what I’ve achieved.”
