organisations in our Community Partnerships network
social value generated by the College Kitchen alone
Since 2018, Trafford & Stockport College Group has built strong Community Partnerships to connect students with local organisations and deliver real social value.
Around 80 partners support projects spanning sustainability, mental health, civic engagement, and intergenerational work, giving students hands-on experience while partners meet social value commitments.
Initiatives include Age UK Welcome Wednesdays and Digital Drop-Ins, film panels at The Light Cinema, an engineering competition sponsored by Stockport Hydro, and creating a safe walking map for Broadheath residents.
The Community Partnerships help students to gain confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging, all while positively impacting the wider community.
Every month, our Colleges open their doors to Age UK members for Welcome Wednesdays. Our students offer hair and beauty treatments, digital literacy support, plumbing demonstrations, and energy-saving advice. During Digital Drop-In sessions, student volunteers support AgeUK members to use digital devices safely and effectively.
Beyond just partnering with the College, Age UK met The Light Cinema at a Community Partnerships event and are now working together to put on dementia screenings and even dementia discos for the local community.
This was one of the first community projects – running since 2018 – and is a brilliant example of communities getting together to share learning, advice and skills. It’s also just really good fun!
